SEWINGPEANUTS:

SewingPeanuts was my first fashion brand, which I launched with a former classmate after graduating college.. 

Where did a name like this come from, you might ask? During our last year of University, while spending hours and hours sewing and expanding our imagination and knowledge, we would always have our “special mix”of peanuts and raisins accompanying our projects.

We soon became known for our signature peanuts. We designed a gold peanut that a jewelry craftsman manufactured for us, to use as cuff-links and  zipper pull-tabs. The shirt's buttons were also hand-crafted with the same dotted texture as the peanuts . Larger buttons (such as for overalls and pants) were also designed and custom-made with the brand's initials SP in old gold. The rest of buttons used in the collection were gorgeous pearls.

The collection designed showed a mix of Baroque, vintage and grunge styles, an ideal marriage of old and new.

The underlying  idea will appeal to any nostalgic girl or woman who is very feminine and sometimes too pensive but still shows her stronger side as she goes forward in life, unafraid of being a bit different.

The SP Collection includes a play on decontextualization between the use of specific fabrics for different garments. Example: Making overalls in luxurious, special fabrics, rather than the expected denim.

The inspiration for the general collection came from the Swiss&Italian luxurious Baroque influence. 

The first collection was a Fall/Winter women's wear collection. 

This collection has 54 pieces, covering a wide range of garments:

3 coats, accessories, such as: 2 belts, 1 pair of cuffed sleeves, 1 pair of sleeves, with a collar and cuffs and 1 single sleeve,  also with a collar and cuffs; 4 shirts, 2 blouses (1 long sleeved, 1 sleeveless), 1 cape, 1 vest, 3 blazers, 1 jacket, 1 long skirt, 4 sweaters, 2 jumpsuits (1 being a long overall) and 1 corset body(very short jumpsuit), 1 skinny long pant, 2 long elephant's leg pant, 8 shorts, 2 blomers and 2 pant skirts, 5 tops, 2 tunics, 2 short dresses and 2 long dresses.

Under 'Lookbook' there is a brief description of each garment from each Outfit or Total Look.

The Outfits or Total 'Looks' are style suggestions for mixing and matching garments from the entire collection.

All the SP items were hand crafted by us, the designers, with attention to detail as our hallmark. Carefully made with unique finishing touches that guarantee maximum quality and comfort. Also, unbeatable style: romantic, feminine, glamorous, luxurious: a highly sophisticated look. Some pieces are "boyfriend/menswear inspired" with tuxedo blazer lapels, and roomy, comfortable structures; others are highly original fitted and flattering garments which enhance the feminine silhouette. These clothes suit any woman who wants a youthful, daring look. There are also jackets with a fresh take on Biker and bomber styles. No real leather or real fur. The symmetrical design of the embroidery enhances the feminine silhouette. OUTFIT 1

• THREE-QUARTER SLEEVE COAT/DRESS:

Original Coat-Dress, in Baroque Jacquard fabric, flared to enhance the female figure. ¾ Raglan sleeves, in a beautiful raw silk, contrasting with the body of the coat for an original and flattering look.

-With custom made buttons that we design and a Spaniard jewelry artisan made for us. (Rusty gold with a scratched texture effect and the “SP” initials.)

• EMBROIDERED FAUX LEATHER BELT:

Off-white faux leather belt, raised gold thread embroidery edging. Baroque motif embroidery in old gold, making this a very romantic and feminine item. Buttons at the back, highly sophisticated look.

• JACQUARD BOYFRIEND BLAZER:
  

Stylish ensemble: man-style, ample fit, tuxedo lapels, in a feminine, Baroque-romantic fabric. Contrasting off-white piping in faux leather on welt pockets .

• TRIACETATE BUTTERFLY SHORTS:

Very elegant and feminine shorts. Symmetrical folds on each side in front, creating a bow effect without any bulging. Very fun and trendy. Dress up and be comfortable all at the same time. Rear zipper in old gold, SP peanut pull in old gold.

• PEACOCK DARK-TEAL SHIRT/POLO:

Very original dress shirt: button up collar polo-style, double collar and gold trimmed binding finishing on cuffs, pleated gauze on sleeves and back. Appealing teal blue fabric. Old gold SP-peanut cufflinks. A must have for distinctive women. Guaranteed hit for any occasion, casual or formal. • GOLD THREAD SKINNY TROUSERS:

Trousers in ottoman fabric, lurex thread provides a subtle, very special sheen. Although these trousers seem to have the traditional jeans cut, they are not made using the traditional denim fabric (that was the hole idea, making a casual garment a little more luxurious. Front zipper and out custom-made gold button with the SP initials carved on. With Typical jeans side, back pockets and double topstitch but a little unusual touch by using gold thread.

• JACQUARD GIRLFRIEND BLAZER:

Baroque-Jacquard Blazer with contrasting piping in natural faux leather, highlighting the double collar, waist and faux pockets. Cinching at the waist with a flirty peplum, extremely flattering to the feminine figure. May be fastened with a large old gold kilt pin.

• PEACOCK SLEEVELESS SHIRT:

Sleeveless shirt, old gold buttons, pleated gauze back, wool collar and rear yoke. Discrete yet good-looking gold double collar, the perfect touch for a deceptively simple shirt, full of details. Both casual and elegant.

• PEACOCK ELEPHANT LEG TROUSERS:

Teal Blue wide leg trousers, with two folds in the front: which give the effect of a glamorously draped long skirt. Beautiful Baroque embroidery in muted gold on diagonal welt pockets further stylize an already flattering, feminine look. Old gold zipper closure in the center back with a SP-peanut pull tab, also in old gold. 2 back welt pockets with tabs and custom-made small buttons.

Woman's vest in a marvelous boiled wool Jacquard fabric with Baroque designs. Diagonal Flap Pockets on the waist line with contrasting natural faux-leather piping. “Tuxedo/Shawl” lapel, single gold button. Excellent for casual events, and for going from work to a cocktail or dinner. Very sophisticated when combined with something simple.

• TRIACETATE RAGLAN SLEEVE-BLOUSE:

Ultra feminine blouse, easy to combine for many different looks. The original touch: both the raglan sleeves and the back are made of pleated gauze. • TIE-BLOUSE:

Sleeveless Tunic. Has very special touches: Baroque gold embroidery on the hem, shoulders, back neck line and a little touch on the end of the implemented tie. It also has triacetate binding, providing luminous contrast that matches the attached tie and faux breast pocket flaps. Fastens at the nape of the neck with an elegant, feminine pearl button.

• PLEATED TRIACETATE CULOTTE/SKORT:

Pleated Culotte, very feminine and flattering. Appropriate for both casual and dressy occasions. Back zipper with our custom-made "SP-peanut" pull-tab, in old gold. • LONG HOODIE, HOODIE-DRESS, SWEATSHIRT DRESS:

Ultra original, practical item . This garment combines elements from a series of garments: It is a wool hoodie, a dress, and has a contrasting triacetate button placket and yoke like a shirt. It also has a double collar; one in sequins fabric. All this is what makes this garment so special, suitable for a casual look, or a more daring, sophisticated and elegant look. Sleeveless Faux leather top. Very original, eye-catching item with beautiful, delicate embroidery. The embroidery is a Baroque design in dusty gold. • STRAPLESS DRESS:

Short strapless dress in hand-pleated Gauze, fine center front strip in Ottoman-style fabric; gold lurex thread lends a special, subtle shine. The waist is accentuated by two natural faux leather horizontal strips that meet at the back, with old gold snaps fasteners. The open back is daring, sensual and appealing. Two more faux leather strips surround the bust and meet in the back. The dress comes with a lined corset for a beautiful fit.. the lower back fastens at the back waist with pearl buttons; highly sophisticated and feminine. • DETACHABLE RAGLAN SLEEVES:

Hand-pleated silk raglan sleeves, deep pleats on both sleeves. Fastens at the nape of the neck with a Pearl button snap. May also fasten in front if preferred. Ottoman-style cuffs, piped in faux leather with lurex gold thread that has a special, subtle glow. Pearl cufflinks. These are totally delicate sleeves, unusual. • OPEN BACK SHORT DRESS:

Short sleeveless dress, closed collar and open back. It has a Back yoke and in the front it is above the bust cut. The center wide panel is in an ottoman-style fabric, with gold lurex thread that provides a very special, subtle shine. The dress has two wide vertical strips: front and back, that dip just below the hemline, in pleated silk gauze. Accentuated waistline, thanks to two horizontals natural faux leather strips on either side of the center front vertical panel. These strips join at the back. The strips act as a drawstring belt around the waist, highly flattering. This piece fastens with pearl buttons at the center back yoke, making for a very feminine, elegant and sophisticated look. Form-fitting jacket in beautiful raw silk, in off-white/ natural palette. This is an original piece, with a youthful, joyful vibe, most flattering to the feminine figure. Comfortable, yet with a touch of sophistication. Fastens with a hidden zipper with a “SP-golden peanut” custom-Made pull-tab, covered by a placket free of buttons. OUTFIT 19

• RAW SILK PENGUIN CAPE:

Gorgeous Raw Silk Cape in a off-white/ natural tone. Highlights: midi-length, balloon or penguin shaped with 2 welt pocket type openings to slide one’s arms/wrist through. The folded Ken style has matching fabric covered buttons, the collar can be worn open or buttoned. It is fasten in the front with 2 pearl buttons joined together by a little gold chain (as 1 cufflink-closing collar together). Tip : wear it with something short underneath.

• CORSET WITH BUCKLES:

Triacetate top with whalebone, corset-style. Gold backstitching, and straps, (a nod to overalls) that fasten with old gold buckles and old gold custom-made signature “SP” buttons in the front. Open back, Straight straps, with 3 horizontal (across-back) strips of faux leather at the bust level. Open at the back, fastens using old gold checks, on a natural-coloured faux-leather placket. OUTFIT 20

• EMBROIDERED WARRIOR SWEATER:

Strikingly original Sweater. Simple wool sleeves, and wool sides. Geometric shaped body, in corduroy, sewn on at the shoulder both front and back. Gold backstitching throws the corduroy panels into relief. This sweater is eminently easy to wear, with gold custom-made buttons on one side of the shoulder slope. The effect is both comfortable but dressy. Can be combined easily with any garment, dress it up or down, for instance by wearing it with plain jeans.
